OAuth is an open protocol for authentication, which various applications and web services can use for requesting permission from Yandex users to work with their personal data, such as blogs on Ya.ru, photos, and so on. This is more secure and convenient than asking users for their login name and password.
Convenience: Authentication occurs via the user's browser. Most often, users are already authenticated in the browser, so they don't have to enter credentials again.
Security: The application or web service can only get specific rights for using personal data, and not full access to the account. Additionally, the user can revoke these access rights at any time.
